Current Board of Directors

The MCS Board of Directors is comprised of six members. Our current Board of Directors for 2011-2012 is

 Bob Plastow-Chairman
Education and Human Relations

Bob and his wife Pam, have two daughters - Moriah in 4th grade and Adaya in 2nd. Bob owns and manages his own business, Plastow and Associates, which sets up and repairs computer systems and networks for businesses and individuals. They are a part of the Mitchell Life Church and Bob attended MCS from 1988 through 1996 when he graduated. His family was very involved in the school when they moved here in 1988 and all 10 Plastow kids graduated from MCS. The oldest was in the first graduating class from the high school. His goals for MCS include helping expand some of the offering from the school. He feels we have diverse student interests and need to have equally diverse learning opportunities for them.

 Dr. Stan Haidle-Vice President
Development

Dr. Stan Haidle has a unique perspective on Mitchell Christian. He was the school's first chairman of the board and his wife, Dr. Ruth Haidle, was the school's first superintendent. Prior to serving as chairman of the board, he was chair of the steering committee that met weekly for an entire year before launching the school. He subsequently wrote a book about the early history of the school entitled: The Battle is the Lord's.
Stan feels that the Lord is calling him again to be involved in the school. He currently serves on the Development committee. Stan has extensive experience in fund raising and wants to see the school continue to grow its programs, particularly in the fine arts. He believes that the school must continue to teach a Biblical world view to our children. Stan has remained active in Christian Education by speaking, consulting and conducting workshops for Christian Schools including James Valley, Sunshine Bible, Madison, Watertown, Aberdeen and Yankton.

Kris Enga- Secretary
Education

Kris Enga is a stay-at-home mom to three boys - Jens in 3rd grade, Anders in 1st grade, and Syver who will start Pre-K this coming fall. She fills in at Cherrybee's Floral occasionally. Her husband, Brian, works at Vantage Point. Kris has degrees in Microbiology and Biology. She has had the opportunity to sub for high school science this year. She feels it is important to provide an academically challenging education for our kids, but more importantly to base that education on God's Word.
Kris plays trumpet at Northridge Baptist church, in the City Band and for occasional pit bands. She feels that providing varied extra-curricular activities is important for helping our kids discover their unique gifts and talents. Kris also enjoys scrapbooking, cooking and gardening.

Kenton Hofer
Development

Kenton has been involved at MCS since 1988 both as a parent and board member (previous and current). His sons, Sheldon and Tyler are both MCS graduates, his wife, Autumn, is a former middle school teacher and their daughter Skylar is currently a student at MCS. Kenton feels that we must focus on the importance of kingdom education. This involves the home, the church and the school as a unit working together to create and instill in students a Biblical worldview. He feels this is important to the future of each student as well as important to the continued growth of church and Christian family! He also would like to see enrollment grow and expand the Fine Arts program at MCS. Kenton knows first-hand the influence that Christian education has on his children. Their faith foundation is solid due in part to the Bible knowledge and grace that his children have been and are currently being taught at MCS.

John Christopher
Spiritual Life

John owns and operates a grain and livestock production farm 23 miles northwest of Mitchell. His wife, Pam, is an obstetrical nurse at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital. They have three daughters in college, Christina at SDSU and majoring in pharmacy, Laura at USF is majoring in accounting, and Maria is also at SDSU. Their son Christ attends MCS and is a Junior. John strongly believes in having his children attend a Christian school after experiencing the positive impact it has made on their spiritual growth. John and his family attend Mitchell Wesleyan Church. John would like to see additional curriculum promoting technical skills and more advanced courses possibly through the local college or technical school or through online courses. He would also like to work with teachers to help them find ways to improve each child's study skills through improved reading and learning techniques.

Chris Peitz-Treasurer
Finance

Chris and his wife, Michelle, have one son, Isaak, at MCS in the 7th grade. Chris works as an Investment Advisor at Independent Financial Center. He and his family have been involved with Mitchell Christian for the last five years. He has been involved with the MCS Golf Tournament, Auction, and is often seen with his wife taking tickets at our home basketball games. Chris would like to see more families enroll their children at MCS and help to improve MCS's exposure to the public.
